Land History

Back when logging with mules was popular, Reeves Snyder’s father, Grant, began a sawmill business.  Even then, the family business was conscientious about logging.  They select cut timber so the forests would continue to flourish.  In fact, cutting the large trees better enabled the young trees and the wildlife to thrive because more sunlight was available for the underbrush and the younger trees.

As Grant grew his business with his four boys, he purchased properties for the timber.  Then, instead of selling the land, he kept it to protect the forests’ natural growth.  Most of the land on this website came from the family business.  These properties are located in the Appalachian Mountains near Boone and Banner Elk, North Carolina, Abingdon,Virginia and Mountain City, Tennessee.  Amenities near these properties are five ski resorts, Appalachian State University, Bristol Motor Speedway, and The Barter Theater.

Reeves has accepted the responsibility of selling the properties so the family can retire.  He has been a dealer for Honest Abe Log Homes for twenty one years doing business as Woods Hill Log Homes in Mountain City,Tennessee.  Reeves’ goal is to sell the land to someone who loves the mountains and is looking for quiet, peaceful, small town living.
